Audrey has had a passion for horses since the beginning. Growing up in Northeast Ohio, she begged her parents for riding lessons which she started at the age of 9. Much to her parents’ dismay, it was not a phase, and she continued riding through middle and high school where she competed in low level Eventing. Knowing she wanted a career with horses she headed to the University of Findlay where she dual majored in Equine Science and Animal Science.

After graduating from the University of Findlay she spent over 5 years training dressage horses professionally and managing both breeding and boarding facilities. While riding and training she completed her Master of Business Administration in 2015. During her time as a trainer, she found that she enjoyed learning from the farriers while they were working on horses. She began riding with local farriers on her days off and trimming her own horses. She shifted gears and began working as a farrier full time in 2017.

As her skills and knowledge as a farrier grew, she became frustrated not having all the tools available to help with every hoof case.  This is what led her to The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine where she completed her veterinary training. Audrey’s background in sport horses, farriery and veterinary medicine has led to the creation of The Hoof Vet, LLC where she specializes in integrative podiatry and sport horse medicine.

 

Outside of work her passion for horses continues with her four equine friends. Omari, her semi-retired Arabian gelding, Boojie, her German Riding Pony dressage partner, Nox, her Section A Welsh driving prospect and Nero, her fun driving Miniature.  Along with her horses she shares two dogs with her partner, plus a menagerie of farm critters.  Her partner, Todd Santoro is also a farrier and spends some of his time working on cases with Dr. Busby. Not only is he a phenomenal farrier and partner, but he has made huge contributions towards making The Hoof Vet, LLC dream a reality.
